The Editorial Policy
It is the policy of the journal to publish issues that consist of between five and seven pieces (articles and reviews) on the literary and cultural representation of disability, literary and cultural disability theory, and the relevant writing of disabled people.
Articles
The extent of article submissions should not exceed 7,000 words, including an abstract of no more than 200 words and a list of works cited.
Each article is read by the editor and two reviewers. If one review recommends rejection and the other does not, the latter may take priority but only on the condition that the author revises her or his essay to address the concerns expressed in the former.
Though the peer review process is anonymous, the reviewers will be mentioned as editorial advisers at the beginning of the appropriate issue.
Book Reviews
The journal reviews books about the literary and cultural representation of impairment and disability, as well as those that represent impairment and disability. The extent of submissions in this category should not exceed 1,000 words. In addition to the usual publication details, authors should remember to include the book’s length, price, and ISBN information.
Reviews of relevant publications should be sent to the Book Reviews Editor.
The Book Reviews Editor should also be contacted by authors and publishers who wish to nominate books, as well as by scholars who would like to provide reviews for future issues.
N.B. It will be assumed that all submissions are original, unpublished and not being considered for publication elsewhere.
